Network¶
The Network page covers everything about how the gateway connects — both to your local plant network and out to the wider internet or a remote engineer. It's the largest page in Cockpit, organized into tabs:
- Ethernet — always present.
- Wi-Fi — only on gateway models with Wi-Fi hardware.
- Cellular — only on gateway models with a cellular modem.
- ZeroTier — a private VPN used for secure remote access.
- ForwPort — forwards a PLC engineering-software port to a remote engineer over ZeroTier.
- EProx — shares a link to a local app (like Node-RED) for someone off-site to open in a browser.
Depending on your device model
Which tabs you see depends on your specific gateway model's hardware. Wi-Fi and Cellular tabs — and the "Default route" card described below — only appear on models that actually have that hardware. Don't assume every gateway shows the same tab set as the screenshots in this manual.
Default route¶
On gateway models with cellular hardware, a Default route card appears above the tabs, letting you choose whether Ethernet or Cellular is preferred as the device's default route to the internet:
If the preferred route loses internet access while the other stays up, Cockpit warns you and suggests switching the preferred route.
This card is not shown on gateways without a cellular modem — Ethernet is simply the only route.
