Users & Roles¶
SCADash has its own user accounts, separate from Cockpit's. They only matter once you've enabled sign-in (see Getting started → Securing SCADash) — otherwise anyone reaching SCADash has full access regardless of what's configured here.
Users¶
Setup → Users lists project accounts:

Every project ships with one admin account, a member of every built-in group. Click + to add another user, or the pencil icon on a row to edit one — you'll set a username, full name, password, which Roles/groups they belong to, and their Start View (which view they land on after signing in, letting you point an operator straight at their dashboard instead of a general overview).
Roles¶
Setup → Roles defines custom permission groups beyond the built-in Viewer / Operator / Engineer / Supervisor / Manager / Administrator set:

Click + and give the role a Name, Index, and Description. Once created, it becomes available as a group a user can belong to, and can be used to restrict which views or actions that group of users can access.
Least privilege
Give each account only the role(s) it needs — an operator who only watches a dashboard doesn't need Engineer or Administrator access to the Editor.
