Editor overview¶

Open Editor from the floating menu to reach the design surface. The window is laid out in four parts:

• Top toolbar — save, the Setup gear (opens every configuration panel covered by the rest of this manual), help, and canvas tools: run preview (▶), zoom, grid toggle, snap size, undo/redo, and a layers list.
• Left panel — Views tree — every view (dashboard page) in the project. Click one to edit it; the buttons above the tree create a new view, a new folder of views, or import one.
• Left panel — Tool and widget palette, below the views tree:
  • General — selection tool, line/rectangle/ellipse/text drawing tools.
  • Controls — interactive widgets: value displays, buttons, sliders, gauges, charts, tables, and more.
  • Shape, Animation, Proc. Eng., Icons, Images — libraries of static and animated symbols, including process-engineering symbols (tanks, pumps, valves, piping) for building a mimic diagram.
  • Widgets — pre-built widget groups such as Basic and Tanks.
• Canvas — the current view, edited like a vector drawing surface: drag a tool or widget from the palette onto it, then position, resize, and configure it.

The Setup menu¶

Click the gear icon (top left) to open Setup — every configuration area for the project, grouped into User Interface, Misc, Logic, and System:

First-run prompt¶

The first time you open the Editor on a project with no security configured yet, a dialog appears:

Configure the editor's initial security now to avoid unprotected access and the use of default credentials.

Click Close to dismiss it for now (it reappears next time unless you check Do not show this wizard again), or set it up immediately — see Getting started → Securing SCADash.
