Updates¶
Shows the Current version and the Latest job's status (state and job
ID). Updates are shipped as a single signed package with the .iiotpkg
extension.
Applying an update: upload, stage, then activate¶
Applying an update is a deliberate two-step process — uploading a package only stages it, it does not switch the gateway over by itself.
- Under Update package (.iiotpkg), click Choose File and select the package.
- Click Upload & stage. Cockpit verifies the package's signature and stages it, but the gateway keeps running the current version.
- Once staged, an Activate staged update button appears.
Activating re-asks for your password
Click Activate staged update, then re-enter your account password when prompted:
Re-enter your password to activate this update.
Activating switches the gateway over to the staged version and may restart services or the device itself as part of applying it. Don't start an activation unless you're prepared for a short interruption.
Rolling back¶
Roll back to last known-good is always available, independent of whatever's currently staged.
Rollback also re-asks for your password
Click Roll back to last known-good, then re-enter your account password:
Re-enter your password to roll back to the last known-good release.
Use this if a newly-activated update is causing problems. Like activating, it may briefly interrupt services or the device itself.
Both Activate and Roll back requiring your current password again is deliberate — these two actions change what software the gateway is actually running, so Cockpit makes sure it's really you before proceeding.
